Shehady’s Oriental Rugs Hosts Rug Repair Class

Local Oriental rug specialist David Randolph, owner and operations manager of Dakota Fine Rug Cleaning, joined a large group of ruggies in Denver, CO. Rug enthusiasts gathered from as far away as other continents at the internationally renowned, one of a kind washing plant, Robert Mann Rugs.

The group was attending a week long Rug-A-Palazza training event that composed of Intermediate wash classes, speakers that discussed strategies focusing on networking, sales and marketing, along with business management. A Skills Day on Friday and finished up with a BYOB (Bring Your Own Boots) on Saturday. Each day offered a wide variety of educational and networking opportunities.

Over a hundred attendees would be in and out of Robert’s place over the course of the week, and with the presence of individuals from Australia, Canada, and England it certainly was an international event. Attendees learned a variety of rug wash related skills, including shearing, color correction, rug finishing, dusting and securing damage pre-cleaning, and even getting to learn some basic rug repair skills.

The event was setup by Area Rug Cleaning Specialists. Presenters included Robert Mann; Ruth Travis of WoolSafe North America/Rug Lady Seminars; Brian Benzel, Serafian’s Oriental Rugs- Albuquerque, NM, Randy Hyde Rug Renaissance, Portland, OR.
